Biography

Prior to pursuing a career in medicine, Perounsack (Zack) X. Moon, DO, studied computer science and worked in the networking and technology sector. Although diagnosing technology to help bring people closer together continues to remain an interest, Dr. Moon yearned to diagnose people in order to help on a more personal level. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in chemistry with a minor in mathematics from Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia. He then furthered his education with a post baccalaureate certificate in biomedical sciences at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) Georgia Campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. From there, Dr. Moon earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from PCOM and completed his internal medicine residency at Piedmont Macon Medical Center in Macon, Georgia.

While in residency, Dr. Moon participated in committees including Academic Accreditation, Environmental Workplace, and hospital utilization subcommittees where he helped improve both the conceptual and physical learning environment for new, incoming doctors in training and identifying, as well as improving, hospital resources respectively. Dr. Moon is passionate about improving patient outcomes while also helping to improve process efficiencies.

Dr. Moon enjoys lifelong learning, and medicine has allowed him to continue this journey. His clinical interests include hospital medicine, pulmonary medicine, and oncology. Outside of medicine, he enjoys quality time with family and loved ones, biking, beaches, tennis, and exploring new and emerging technologies.
