Biography

Dr. Kathleen Hammonds received her Bachelor of Science in biology from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, graduating magna cum laude. She received her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Dr. Hammonds’ clinical areas of interest include general pulmonary and critical care medicine, including but not limited to asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, pulmonary embolism, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), sarcoidosis, and interstitial lung diseases.

Dr. Hammonds is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine. She is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
