Biography

Ray T. Ramirez, MD, FASCRS, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. He graduated with his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, where he also completed his general surgery residency. Dr. Ramirez completed his colon and rectal surgery fellowship at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana. He specializes in surgery of the small intestine, colon, and rectum.

Dr. Ramirez was named an Inside Business Health Care Hero by the Virginian-Pilot in 2019. He was also recognized as the Portsmouth Naval Medical Center Community Surgeon of the Year in 2018. Dr. Ramirez is board certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery, and a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. In his free time, he enjoys working out, spending time at the beach, and boating.
