Biography

Joseph J. Sposato, DO, FACC, graduated with his Bachelor of Science in biology from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Sposato completed his internal medicine internship and residency at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, where he was Chief Resident. He completed his cardiology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Cardiovascular Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he was Chief Fellow.

Dr. Sposato is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians. He retired as a Captain in the Medical Corps of the United States Navy, where he was a staff cardiologist in the Division of Cardiology at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia. Dr. Sposato also served as Program Director for the internal medicine residency in the Department of Internal Medicine at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. He is fluent in American Sign Language.
